Your VW headlights are vital for your safety when driving at night or when weather conditions make it difficult to see. They illuminate the road ahead of you to alert you of potential hazards on the road and allow you to see pedestrians or other objects that may be entering your direction of travel.
Headlights come in all shapes, sizes, and designs and consist of a lens for light to shine through, a low beam light, a high beam light, and a reflector that aims and amplifies the light from the bulb.
Replacing Your VW Headlights
Headlights that consist of a bulb assembly must be replaced whenever the bulb goes dim or burns out. Headlights with replaceable bulbs only require the bulb itself to be replaced when burned out.
Electrical problems are not common but can occur within a headlight. Corroded electrical connections and bulb sockets can prevent the headlights from illuminating, requiring replacement of the headlight.
Lastly, glass and plastic lens headlights can be damaged by the sun or other weather conditions. When this happens they become foggy or have what appears to be a hazy film on them and lose their ability to fully illuminate the road in front of you. The only way to correctly clear up the headlights is to replace the headlight assemblies.
