On hot summer day, it is important that your Volvo keeps you cooled down. To do this the AC compressor compresses gas refrigerant into liquid dropping its temperature below freezing. This liquid refrigerant is than pumped into the evaporator inside the vehicles passenger compartment where air flows through the evaporator cooling the air you feel coming from the AC vents. If the AC compressor quits working, the only air you will feel will be the hot air being blown in from outside.
